This is an Earth Ship. It is a house that you make out of 100% recycled materials. the second picture here shows the walls you make, which are made out of tires filled with mud and layered on top with recycled cans filled with cement. then you grow your own bamboo and make the roof. the first picture shows how you cover the tires with dirt and mud and it actually creates a smooth, strong, wonderful surface. these beautiful glass designs in the wall are made out of "brick bottles" where you take any two same sized bottles, cut the top off, and connect them together and putt them in the wall with the tires. I know someone who is going to Texas to build one of these with her husband, growing a farm and raising animals and basically "living off the land" in peace with herself. it will be her, the love of her life, and hard work for six years, but she will be doing what she loves, she will be only an hour away from Mexican beaches, and she will raise a life in happiness. sometimes, i just wish i had the bravery she has. the power to remove herself from society. this woman will be making her own food, making her own clothes, making her own plates and forks, harvesting water from a well she made, everything. its just amazing.

Excellent little write-up. I would love to be the first to comment :)Earthships are amazing; I'm very surprised I only learned about them six months ago. These things should be all over TV, news stations, and on millions of minds all across this country. A downfall, talked about by the founder of the Earthship design, said dozens of people all around the country are wanting and trying to build these sustainable structures but the cities they live in aren't giving them permits?! That's insanity! Most counties governments are so attached to tradition and what the books say they can't see a great thing when it slaps them in the face.
